I love David's little Pentax camera!
I sometimes throw it in my purse because I love to take pictures of the interesting day-to-day things I see in our new town. Here's a collection of some interesting stuff!

Office Space

Here's a few more pictures of my work area. I've also got a shot of the front of the building, finally! It's the white one. My space is on the second floor, behind the big tree. I'm near the big bay windows, so I have plenty of natural light and a nice view of the street.
The last shot is just a row of victorians on my way from work to the bus stop. I want to live in that blue house, it's gorgeous!

First day at work

I can’t believe I actually got out of bed this morning at 7 am. It was hard, but at least my coffee was ready when I got up. The bus ride was an easy 10 minutes on an
empty bus, and the hike over the 4 blocks to get to the office wasn’t too bad; I was wearing sneakers. Got to the office, and man was I was floored when I saw my desk; a dual processor G5 with 2 hard drives each 400 gigs, plus an external 400 gig hard drive, hooked up to dual monitors! My dream set-up! Technical difficulties though, the adobe suite had not been loaded on the dream machine yet, I didn’t have an email account or access to the server,
etc….so I spent most of the day loading software and setting up email accounts and server access. Here are a few pictures I snapped of the office. It’s really a gorgeous old Victorian that’s been converted into office space. I just love the period details. I’ll try to take a few more pictures tomorrow!

Charanga….
David and I went to dinner last night to the Mission District. 2 buses and 40 minutes after we left the apartment, we arrived at Charanga (yes, it’s Cuban) The place was empty when we got there at 7, but there was a line to get in when we left! The food was excellent, they have some tapas, and their entrees are large enough to share. we started with some fried yucca, then some tostones with goat cheese and black bean sauce, and for the entrĂ©e we had the Cuban lechon. Man it was good! For dessert we both had Cuban coffee and flan, which was ok, not as good as senora Maria’s! I have to say my favorite was the passion fruit mojito, I love just plain maracuya juice, even better in a cocktail! Talk about the perfect summer drink for you guys in Houston. So here’s a recipe:
Passion Fruit Mojito
(Mojito de maracuya!)
2 ounces White Rum
1/2 ounce Passion fruit juice*
1 teaspoon Sugar
6 whole Mint Leaf
2 ounces Soda Water
Muddle mint springs and sugar together in a highball glass. Put juice and sugar into glass and stir until dissolved. Fill with crushed ice and rum, stir. Top with soda water and garnish with a sprig of mint.
*For a traditional mojito, just substitute lime juice for the passion fruit juice.
ENJOY!

Going to the beach

What a better way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon than at the beach! It was a nice warm day, here are a few pictures from our drive down to Ocean Beach. There were a bunch of tents down in Crissy field, not sure what all that was about. We drove past a caravan of those tourist go-carts, and I tried to snap a picture. Those things are everywhere now!

Muir Woods, etc.

More pictures
Here are some more pictures from this weekend with the Garrisons. There's a few of the Muir Woods, the redwood about 10 miles from the city. The view at the top of
the trail at the Muir Woods was a bit dissapointing, we hiked all the way up to the top of the Ocean View trail, and there was no Ocean View! The fog rolling over the trees was cool though. We were getting together on the boulder for pictures, when I put hand in bird crap. Not fun. Then a bird almost attacked David.
Also, there's the gorgeous shot of the bridge rom the Marin headlands. We sort of stumbled onto this great spot on our way back into town when we were looking for the vista point and couldn't get to it from the north. Gorgeous views!
In other news, I start work Monday the 10th. It will be interesting. Here's the website to the school system:
http://www.sacredsf.org
I'm still on the hunt for the perfect work shoes that are stylish and dressy enough for the office, but are comfortable enough to walk in 10 blocks daily.

Happy 4th of July

Hope you all had a fun fourth of July weekend!
We had a great time, here are some pictures of the fireworks over the bay last night.
David and I walked down to Ghirardelli Square and there were huge crowds down by the water watching the fireworks, braving the cold wind. We ended up near the cable car turnaround with a pretty good view for the show. Luckily there was no fog, which made for an impressive fireworks display. And like the past few days, it was really cold, with a chilly sea breeze. It just didn't seem right being all bundled up to watch fireworks on the fourth of July...it felt more like new year's eve!
